Glossary of Terms
Initial Assessment (IA): entry into ongoing services at EKUCC, requires completing initial documentation and then meeting with a clinician the same day; occurs on a first-come basis.
Appointment-Based Services: services that require an appointment, such as Group Therapy, Individual Therapy, and Couples Therapy. To establish appointment-based services, a student must complete an Initial Assessment (see above). This is in contrast to “Drop-in Services”.
Drop-in Services: services that do not require an appointment, such as Feel Better Fast workshops, groups designated as “drop-in”, Initial Assessment, self-directed biofeedback, and consultation about a person one is concerned about.
Feel Better Fast Workshops: hour-long coping/resiliency-based skills workshops offered multiple times each week; do not require appointments.
Biofeedback: technology-based service that teaches how to recognize signs of distress and how to change them. Once students attend an IA and participate in either a clinician-directed Biofeedback session, or the Biofeedback Feel Better Fast "Controlled Calm" workshop, they can use this service on a self-directed basis.
Individual Therapy: therapy that is provided to one person at a time.
Group Therapy: therapy that is provided to multiple people at the same time by the same therapist.
Couples Therapy: therapy that is provided to people who are in an ongoing intimate relationship with one another for the purpose of addressing concerns within that relationship.
