Psychology Practicum

The EKUCC Practicum Program is designed for students currently enrolled in a graduate program in counseling, psychology, or other related fields. The program provides hands-on education and experience in providing psychological treatment. The unpaid practicum program consists of 15 hours per week beginning in the Fall semester (August) and ending at the end of the Spring semester (May).

The practicum experience includes:

  • Two-day orientation prior to the beginning of fall semester (specific dates TBA)
  • On-going caseload of approximately 6-8 clients
  • A minimum of one hour/week of individual face-to-face supervision
  • One hour/week of group supervision/didactic training seminar
  • Weekly review of session recordings and all clinical documentation by supervisor

Typical duties/experiences of trainees include:

  • Provision of individual therapy
  • Clinical consultation with EKUCC licensed psychologists and clinicians regarding a wide variety of topics
  • Observation or co-facilitation of therapy groups
  • Administrative activities such as front desk coverage, research, and/or staff meetings

Possible additional training opportunities based on interest, skill, and experience:

  • Outreach presentations to classes and groups
  • Live supervision, observation of staff therapy sessions, and/or peer supervision
  • Additional (beyond 15/week minimum) direct service hours, if schedule allows
