At EKUCC, we recognize the important connection between physical and emotional wellness. Being mindful of our wellness activities and choices can increase resiliency to stress by promoting life balance and contentment. We offer several programs targeting emotional wellness to increase your potential success in the classroom and in life.

Fall 2020 Schedule

FEEL BETTER FAST is a weekly workshop series that teaches that teaches coping strategies to make your life more manageable.

We are currently offering 3 virtual Let's Talk Workshops each week, covering the topics of Mindfulness, Emotional Regulation, and Distress Tolerance. These topics will rotate order each week. To join, click the link at the top of the page. These workshops will lock 15 minutes after their starting time. 

Mondays- 10:30AM
Tuesday- 1:00PM
Wednesday 10:30AM 

Mindfulness- Spending time in quarantine can lead to spending a lot of time on various activities that take your attention away from the present moment.  Practicing mindfulness can be a great opportunity to improve your mental health by challenging yourself to be present and aware of your thoughts and feelings.  In this workshop, you will learn tools that can help you practice mindfulness and work towards reducing and preventing stress, anxiety, depression, as well as many other concerns you may be experiencing. 

Distress Tolerance- Join the EKU Counseling Center staff today for a workshop on Distress Tolerance. When life feels like you’re currently in the middle of an unfinished Jumanji game, your emotions can activate with a high degree of intensity.  Changes in your daily routine and the people you’re around can lead to a mixture of emotions. These new experiences can be stressful. The tools provided in this workshop are aimed to provide you with skills to navigate these intense emotions and increase the positive experiences throughout your day. 

Emotional Regulation- Join the staff of the EKU Counseling Center today for a Workshop on Emotional Regulation. Regardless of whether you’re at home or school, every day we can experience a wide range of emotions.  This workshop will focus on the most scientifically backed methods of managing your emotions, provide activities and tools that can help you feel more grounded and in control of your emotional functioning.

 

Peak Performance
During the 2020 Summer, we will also be offering weekly virtual Peak Performance Workshops. 

Motivation, Goal Setting, and Test Anxiety

When we are stressed, it can hard to operate at our best. When we are stressed and then have to complete tasks that will be graded or evaluated, it can feel impossible to be our best. This workshop focuses on ways to improve test anxiety, improving personal motivation for the things that need to get done, as well as how to set effective and attainable goals.

One of these three topics will be focused on each week, rotating throughout the month. This workshop series is every Wednesday at 1PM. Please click on the link at the top of the page to join during the specified workshop time. The workshop will lock 15 minutes after the starting time. 

Organization and Action
The organization and planning module of the Feel Better Fast series will be aimed to help establish a routine with managing your day.  We will work to establish a daily schedule to help you plan and prioritize your day.  Additionally, we will brainstorm ways to increase your motivation and make it easier to initiate tasks, while hopefully making your day more enjoyable.

Meditation Workshop
Experience a guided meditation to help reduce stress, strengthen concentration, and calm the racing mind. No previous meditation experience necessary to participate.  A blanket and pillow recommended but not required.This workshop will be featured weekly on Mondays at 1PM

Restorative Movement
A soothing yoga practice that invites you to stretch, ground, and center with restorative poses and gentle movement.  All levels of experience are invited to participate.  A pillow and blanket recommended but not required. This workshop will be featured weekly on Thursdays at 10:30AM

Let's Talk

Let’s Talk is a free, confidential consultation service offered through the EKU Counseling Center. Have a specific problem but unsure about counseling? Wonder what it's like to talk with a mental health therapist or psychologist? Concerned about a friend but not sure how to help? The EKU Counseling Center is providing easy access to informal, confidential conversations with our professional mental health clinicians!

Consultations are provided to currently enrolled EKU students and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. The mental health professional will listen closely to your concerns, and provide support, perspective, and suggestions for resources. Let's Talk are consultations only and are not a substitute for individual therapy services
